Day 4 - ITU
Cold nasty rain... I didn't expect that from you, dear Geneva! I don't own an umbrella... It's a Swiss holiday today, so everything is closed.
I went to the ITU in the morning - just to meet the people I'll be working with. Got wet and cold on the way there...
I thought it would be all official and important, but it's not :) I get to have my own office!! I've had real jobs before but never had an office... I think I am going to enjoy being an intern.
As a matter of fact, since wireless in my apartment died completely, that's where I am right now. But it looks like it's finally clearing up, so I might be able to take my camera outside afterall.
I missed the boat!
Since I got a late start today because of the rain, I decided to catch the sunset at the lake. My thought was that if I went to the other side of the lake, I could see the sun go down into the water.
I went down Avenue de France (which, as you can imagine, goes to France, but I was walking in the opposite direction) to Quai Wilson and then Quai du Mont-Blanc. After I crossed the lake, instead of going into the Old Town I stayed closer to the water - Rue Eaux-Vives and then Quai Gustave-Ador. I went pretty far - all the way down to the mountain-side with all the pretty houses. Turns out, I was wrong earlier about using mountains and the fountain to orient in space. First of all, there are mountains on the other side of Geneva too - I just didn't see them before. Second, I lost the fountain!!! I don't understand what happened. There is no way I couldn't see it - they must have turned it off :(
The sun did't want to come down... I was cold and wanted to go back home, but I was at least 30 minutes away from the bridge. Well, there are boats! A boat across the lake is a legitimate means of transportation, covered by my bus / tram pass. But, of course, as soon as I got to the peer, the old captain-looking dude with a pony tail took down the flag. I assumed that it meant that the boats were done for the day. It's not like I could ask him... I should learn some French.
I ended up taking a trolley that went all the way to Gare Cornavin, and just walking home from there.

Excellent. I see myself coming to visit and looking out across (whatever the view is) as I eat some scrambled eggs. BUY IT NOW!
