Day 44 - Lausanne
If you do not enjoy cityscapes and do not share my obsession with roofs and such, you might want to skip this series. Lausanne is awesome as it is, but it's even better from above - from the top of the Cathédrale (which was built between 1150 and 1275, by the way).
Lausanne is about 40 minutes away from Geneva, also on the Lac Leman. It's almost as green as Geneva, as old as Bern (if not older), and wonderfully laid-back. I definitely liked the atmosphere here much more than in Bern.
There was some kind of street fest going on (it seems that the whole Switzerland is celebrating something all summer long), so there were tons of street vendors everywhere. Well, and bands, of course - free music is a given.
I stopped at Musée de design et d'arts appliqués contemporains for a little bit and didn't regret it. They had a couple curious temporary exhibits going on and then a fairly large collection of contemporary glass art on permanent display. Very different from the stuff I saw at Ariana museum. Very very nice! No photography allowed there :(
It started raining in the early evening and didn't look like it was going to stop any time soon so I had to cut my trip short. I will likely go back - I loved it there!
