Day 23 - Interlaken
Interlaken is only about 2.5 hours away from Geneva, but it’s entirely different. It’s German Switzerland (Geneva is French); however, it seemed that American English was the language of choice. Interlaken is located between two lakes and surrounded by Swiss Alps. Consequently, it is very popular among all sorts of crazy people who enjoy white water rafting, paragliding, skydiving etc.
The city itself is pretty small; most of the buildings are wooden. Donkeys (or donkey-ponies, a Swiss version of donkeys) are the main means of transportation.
People of Interlaken have a weird cow fetish - as you can see from the photos, cow sculptures (and pictures) were everywhere. Didn’t see any cows walking down the streets, though; it must have been off-season.
Guests of Interlaken - the ones that are not impressed by cows - are welcome to enjoy Hooters. I was craving some chicken wings, but the boys opted for Italian instead. German Swiss make the best lasagna I’ve ever tasted!
We had plenty of time before we had to be back for our adventure so we drove to Lauterbrunnen to see the waterfall. I apologize in advance for posting dozens of pictures of the same thing, but I was entirely fascinated by it... We couldn’t get too close to it; it was on someone’s private property. Can you imagine having a waterfall in your back-yard?
